BA (Hons) in English Literature and Linguistics
A degree in Literature and Linguistics enables you to understand how language works, and of some of the ways it has been used to persuade, inspire, and entertain people. The programme gives you a unique perspective on English. On the one hand, you will learn about how language is structured, and the ways in which it conditions our responses to the world. On the other, you will look at some of the most interesting and profound ways language has been used by poets, novelists, and dramatists. Queen Mary has one of the country's most lively English departments, with a huge range of course options, whilst the Department of Linguistics is one of only three in the country to be graded 5* in the last Research Assessment Exercise (the highest possible rating).
