BA (Hons) in English and Drama

This joint degree programme will engage you in the study and practice of performance, and the reading of texts from a broad spectrum of genres and periods. It combines practical and theoretical study in a wide range of interconnected areas, providing you with a variety of approaches to drama and literary studies as active and dynamic subjects. Along with an understanding of how approaches to Drama and English complement one another, you will be encouraged to locate texts and performances in their political, cultural, and historical contexts.

Year One

The first year programme is carefully structured to provide you with the practical and theoretical skills to undertake independent study in your second and third years. In your first year you take four units in Drama and two double units in English:

Years Two and Three

In your second and third years you will design your own programme of study by choosing from the huge range of courses offered in English and Drama. There is one required module unit in your final year:

English Dissertation

This is based on your own independent study or you may instead opt for the Drama' Written Research Project' or the Drama 'Independent Practical Project'. Options available to you include:
