Applying to Queen Mary

Queen Mary has a very diverse body of students and we welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds.

Those applying for MA programmes should have, or expect to achieve, at least an upper-second class (2.1) honours degree within the broad field of the humanities. Prospective students may be called for interview, or may be asked to submit written work in support of their application. Q

To apply for a place you need to complete Queen Mary’s online application form

Funding Opportunity

For entry in September 2011, the Department is able to offer one AHRC funded Master's studentship to include a maintenance stipend as well as tuition fees. If you wish to be considered for the AHRC Master's studentship, you will need to have submitted your MA application on or before 25 March 2011

All candidates will be judged according to the same criteria:

  • Academic and professional Achievement
  • Quality of research proposal
  • Compatibility with Queen Mary's research strengths

Please note the residency requirement for AHRC awards: UK residents – both UK citizens and EU nationals – are eligible for a full award (ie, maintenance grant plus fees). EU nationals not resident in the UK are eligible for a fees only award. Non-EU nationals are not eligible for AHRC awards, with the exception of persons who have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain and who can demonstrate a relevant connection to the UK.

If you have already applied for a place on the MA, you will automatically be considered for the studentship.
